Ex. George Balogh from Paul Labonte, 2011
A vug with small, Calcite crystals with an unusual habit which is typical for the location. There are gray colored stringers and blebs in the matrix which is Chalcocite and possibly a bit of Bornite. Chalocite was the ore mined at the site, which was unusually since the area is noted for its native copper mines. Specimens from the location are seldom available partially because the mine was abandoned in 1873. There are still dumps in the woods which are easily accessible from the road, but I never found much. Interestingly, there are also some ruins of some of the old mine buildings around which Michigan Tech. archaelogy students have conducted gridded surveys.
Condition: Very Good
Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
