Mineral Specimen #6355    Spessartine Garnet variety Hessonite, Smoky Quartz, Microcline, minor Hyaline Opal

Tongbei, Fujian, China

8 x 5.4 x 4.4 cm

Sold

Well formed, Garnet crystals cover much of the underlying Microcline matrix along with small, bladed, gray/green Muscovite crystals. Although many of the Garnet crystals are a bright orange color, many others have a zone of black in the interior which gives them an overall, dark brown color. Some of the Garnet crystals are partially transparent and all have a high luster. Rising up from the matrix are five, light gray colored, translucent Smoky Quartz crystals. There are also a few, small spots of Hyaline Opal scattered across the specimens. These are not noticeable until exposed to SW UV under which they fluoresce a vivid green.

Condition: Very Good to Excellent

Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
