The Amethyst is on a matrix of trap rock basalt and has white to clear Quartz crystals surrounding it. The color is a medium purple with a few dark areas. The crystals are a bit crudely shaped, translucent to nearly transparent in places with a few showing crude phantoms. The crystals have a good, glassy luster.
