Mineral Specimen #6281    Talc Crystals

Ottre, Vielsalm, Stavelot Massif, Luxembourg Province, Belgium

8.5 x 5.5 x 3.1 cm

Sold

1838 or older, Ex. Lerderer Collection, Ex. University of Michigan Geology Department

Off white colored, rounded Talc crystals from a classic location. The specimen was acquired by the University of Michigan in 1838 as part of the Lerderer collection. Please note: mindat does not list Talc for the location; however, Pyrophyllite is listed which forms a series with Talc. Both have a similar hardness and greasy feel, but Pyrophyllite almost always is composed of thin, elongated, radiating crystals.

Condition: Fairly Good

Flaws: A few of the crystals are incomplete.
