Shullsburg area, Upper Mississippi Valley Dist., Lafayette Co., Wisconsin

14 x 7.4 x 5 cm

Sold

1970s or earlier

A cluster of well formed, complex Marcasite crystals with a noticable green colored tint. The Shullsburg area is a classic location noted for its Marcasite specimens. There were a large number of mines in the area, the last of which closed in the mid 1970s.

Condition: Very Good

Flaws: There is a slight smell of sulfur which may indicate some minor deterioation - however, the specimen is at least 40 years old and will likely be stable for many years to come.
