Mineral Specimen #6051    Yellow with Purple Edging Datolite with Greenstone (Pumpellyite-Mg) and Chlorite

This Datolite specimen is a bright, vivid , pure yellow color. The Datolite is composed of multiple, conjoined, small nodules with a richer, darker color in the center of each. Around the edges of the yellow, is a rind of white which is colored a reddish purple in places due to the presence of Copper. The Datolite is surrounded by basalt with both Greenstone and Chlorite present around the edges of the specimen. The polish is very high. The specimen was likely retrieve from the lakebed of Lake Superior via scuba gear.

Condition: Good

Flaws: There is a crack near one end of the specimen.
