Mineral Specimen #5373 Calcite on Bicolor Fluorite with Included Chalcopyrite and Cast after Barite
Hardin Co., Illinois
Ex. A. Neely, Wrapped in Hardin County Independent newspapers from 1963
Crude, off white colored Calcite crystals on cubic Fluorite which is a pale yellow color with a thin outer zone which is light blue in color. There are small Chalcopyrite crystals included in the Fluorite. The Fluorite has a good luster. There is a concave, striated cast after Barite. Perhaps not the most beautiful specimen, but a good reference specimen for the Fluorite mines of Illinois in the 1960s.
Condition: Fairly Good
Flaws: The terminations of some of the Calcite crystals are cleaved and incomplete. There are some internal cleaves in the Fluorite and a few chips on the edges and corners.
