Mineral Specimen #5365    Vanadinite, Calcite

Mina San Carlos, San Carlos, Mun. de Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, Mexico

This specimen has some extremely nice Vanadinite crystals for the species. The color is a vibrant orange, some of the crystals have a hollow core, the crystals have a very high, glassy luster and a few are actually gemmy. Also, this is a very unusual specimen for the location where Vanadinite occurs with similar habit with hollow crystals but is usually a chocolate brown color on white Calcite. I was a little skeptical at first of the location but did find similarly colored Vanadinite crystals posted on mindat for the location.

Condition: Very Good

Flaws: Nothing Appreciable

5.2 x 4.1 x 3.1 cm
Largest crystal measures 7 x 3 x 2 mm
