Mineral Specimen #5252    Monazite-(Ce) Pseudomorph after Hydoxylbastnaesite-(Ce) on Rutil Epitaxial Growth on Hemaite

Novo Horizonte, Bahia, Brazil

Partially hollow Hydoxylbastnaesite-(Ce) crystals perched on the sides of Rutile needles have been replaced with Monazite-Ce. Very unusual for the location which has produced countless Rutile epitaxial growth on Hematite specimens. Analysis work was done by Luis Menezes.

Condition: Good

Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
