Mineral Specimen #5090    Aragaonite variety: Flos Ferri (Eisenblute)

Styrian Erzberg, Eisenerz, Styria, Austria

White branching masses deposited from warm water springs. This is classic material from the location for which the term Flos Ferri was originally used. The term translates to Flowers of Iron. Although there is no actual iron in the specimen, the name is reference to the fact the location is a large open pit iron mine with the primary ore being Siderite, Ankerite and minor Iron bearing Dolomite.

Condition: Good

Flaws: Some of the terminations are not complete.

4.1 x 3.1 x 3.2 cm
