Mineral Specimen #504 Polylithonite on Albite with Aegirine
Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Monteregie, Quebec, Canada
KLi2Al(Si4O10)(F,OH)2
Polylithionite is the lithium rich end member in the Polylitionite-Trilithionite series (which includes Lepidolite as an intermediate member). In this specimen, the Polylithionite forms pale brown rosettes on a section of a large Albite crystal. The Polylitionite has a high luster. There are black Aegerine crystals scattered around the specimen. On the bottom, are some clear unidentified crystals (seen in the last 2 pictures). These are quite nice, but there are so many different species at this location, it is hard to tell what these are. The edges of the Polylitionite have some wear.
