Mineral Specimen #501    Quartz with Hematite Roses

Jinlong hill, Longchuan) Count, Heyuan Prefecture, Guangdong Province, China

This a large striking specimen of thin Quartz crystals which have a coating of Hematite and more Hematite in the form of bladed 'roses' at the base. The longest Quartz crystal is over 5 cm in length. The color ranges from reddish brown to a brighter orange color (some of the Hematite may be phasing into Goethite). The specimen is in very good condition. The only broken Quartz crystals are at the very edge of the specimen. Since they broke off cleanly at the base, this does not distract from the attractiveness of the specimen.

10.3 x 9.4 x 7.6 cm
