Mineral Specimen #4934    Lazulite, Siderite, Childrenite, Quartz

Rapid Creek, Dawson Mining District, Yukon Territory, Canada

One surface of this specimen projects outwards and is covered with a mix of Lazulite, Siderite and Quartz crystals. The Lazulite crystals range in color from a rich royal blue to a blue with green tint - which is unusual. The Siderite crystals are a light brown color with a hint of yellow/orange. The Quartz crystals are, with one exception quite smal,l and are clear to white in color. All three species have a high sparkly luster. Additionally, and of particular note, there are slender, elongated Childrenite crystals which are a brown color with a reddish tint, have a high luster and are semi gemmy. Although there are damaged areas, primarily in the outmost projected places, there are many well developed crystals of Lazulite and Siderite, many of which are gemmy.

Condition: Fairly Good

Flaws: There are two projecting areas where the Siderite crystals are damaged. The largest Quartz crystal is incomplete and there are some damaged Lazulite crystals near it.

9.5 x 7.6 x 5.8 cm
