Mineral Specimen #4904    Marialite Crystal

Aracruz, Espirito Santo, Brazil

A gemmy, light yellow colored single crystal of Marialite which is an end member in the Scapolite series. This is a large crystal for the species and in particular for the location. The termination has a very unusual botryoidal habit and is quite unique and unlike other specimens. The sides of the crystal are striated with the exception of two places where there are conchoidal fracture surfaces. The interior is very gemmy and could be cut for a sizable stone. The specimen has a glassy luster.

Condition: Fairly Good

Flaws: There are areas on the side which are conchoidal fracture surfaces which is very common for crystals from the location.
