Mineral Specimen #4827    Turkey Fat Smithsonite, Sphalerite, Dolomite

Rush, Rush Creek Dist., Marion Co., Arkansas

Bright yellow Smithsonite which has partially pseudomorphed after Dolomite. The bright yellow color is due to the inclusion of micro Greenockite in which the Cadmium produces the color. In places, the lighter colored, underlying Dolomite shows. There are also very nice, gemmy, brown colored Sphalerite crystals with a high, glassy luster.

Condition: Good

Flaws: A few of the crystals near the top edge are damaged.
