Mineral Specimen #474 Spessartine Garnet, Goethite, Smoky Quartz
Tongbei, Yunxiao County, Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, China
Goethite is only occasionally found at this location better known for its Spessartine Garnet. The black of the Goethite contrasts nicely with the orange Spessartine. The Goethite is stalactite like in habit with one place where a bridge has occurred. The specimen is in good condition with one exception, on the side of the specimen a small amount of the Goethtite on the side has chipped away from the underlying Spessartine.
