Mineral Specimen #4611    Erythrite, Unidentified Silver Halide

Bou Azer District, Tazenakht, Ouarzazate Prov., Morocco

Although this is a very nice Erythrite specimen, which was the only species listed, what is more exciting are the gray/green colored crystals of either Bromagyrite or Chloragyrite, both of which are listed on mindat, but no pictures have been posted. The surface of these crystals has the wax feel of either species. In crystal habit and color, Bromagyrite is more likely. The Erythrite crystals have the deep rosy/red color for which the location is noted. There is also present a massive, silvery metallic material which is likely Skutterudite or possibly Safflorite.

Condition: Good

Flaws: Some of the termiantions of the Erythrite crystals are worn and a couple are bent.

5.9 x 5.6 x 34 cm
