Mineral Specimen #4559    Polished Datolite Nodule Pair

Mandan Gravel Pit, Keweenaw Co., Michigan

Ex. Lillian Nadeau

A most unusual and striking cut and polished Datolite nodule. What makes this specimen so unique it's unusual shape and especially the hollow void in the middle. Not only have I never seen a hollow, Michigan Datolite nodule, but neither have several long term and advanced Michigan collectors who have seen the specimen. The color is a reach reddish pink due to micro inclusions of Copper. From an obscure small location located along US Highway 41 not far from Copper Harbor and which I have driven passed innumerable times when staying in the area. From the personal collection of a long term mineral dealer (F & L Minerals) from southeastern Michigan.

Condition: Excellent

Flaws: Nothing Appreciable

2.2 x 2.4 x 0.5 cm and 2.5 x 2.1 x 0.6 cm
