Mineral Specimen #4494    Pyromorphite

Daoping Mine, Gongcheng Co., Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang AR., China

The top surface of this specimen is covered with well formed Pyromorphite crystals. The color of the crystals varies from grass green to olive green with some of the larger crystals having a subtle orange tint. The crystals have good luster and the specimen exhibits a bit of sparkle. The underlying matrix is composed of small, interlocked Quartz crystals. These are white on the bottom and covered with a reddish coating on the top where casts after a now missing material are present (the shape of the casts suggests Barite). This underlying matrix is quite strong and durable which is important since many Pyromorphite specimens from this location are a bit fragile with crumbly, underlying matrix.

Condition: Excellent

Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
