Mineral Specimen #4477    Wulfenite, Calcite

Jianshan Mine, Ruoqiang Co., Bayin'gholin Auton. Pref., Xinjiang Auton. Region, China

6.4 x 3.4 x 2.4 cm

$50 / Reserved

Vivid red/orange colored, thin, rectangular shaped Wulfenite crystals are mounded upon a black colored matrix. The Wulfenite crystals are coated with a druze of micro Calcite crystals which varies in color from tan to nearly white. The Calcite druze is directional leaving the Wulfenite crystals uncovered when viewed from one side of the specimen. The best color is observed when the specimen is laying face down as in the last photo (the specimen naturally lays at an inclined angle). Displaying it in similar manner but more upright with a stand would be an option.

Condition: Very Good

Flaws: One of the larger crystals at the very top of the specimen is broken.
