Mineral Specimen #4418    Rhodochrosite on Quartz an Manganite

N'Chwaning II Mine, Kuruman, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

Very gemmy, pink colored, small Rhodochrosite cover approximately one half of the surface of this specimen. The largest crystals measures 2 mm. The pink crystals grew on both black colored Manganite crystals and small, clear Quartz crystals. In a few places, the Quartz crystals encase Manganite crystals. All three species have high luster which gives the specimen a lot of sparkle. Also present are two small, clear amber colored crystals of an undientified material (see the blue arrow on the first two close up photos). The specimen is very nice to view under 10x.

Condition: Excellent

Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
