Mineral Specimen #4344    Iridescent Pyrrhotite, Sphalerite, Galena, Quartz

Nikolaevskiy Mine, Dal'negorsk B deposit, Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia

A cluster of well formed, bronze colored Pyrrhotite crystals with small Quartz and Sphaleritecrytals at the base. The crystals have striated sides with the appearance of stacks of thin crystals. The terminations of the largest two crystals are concave and have a high metallic and iridescent color. This iridescence is more pronounced on the crystal which is more regular in cross section and consists mostly of light blue in the middle which phases into a light violet in places and is more noticeable in person than in the photos. The Quartz crystals are a off white in color with a light yellow tint. There is an unusual, flattened Galena crystals on one side of the largest crystal near its base. The specimen is in very good condition with the exception of a few very small, minor chips in some of the edges of the Pyrhottite crystals.
