Mineral Specimen #433 Smoky Citrine Laser Quartz with Muscovite
Sapo mine, Ferruginha, Conselheiro Pena, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil
The mine this specimen is from is better known for its Tourmaline and Apatite specimens. That being said, this is an extremely nice Quartz specimen. The habit of the crystal is long and tapered and referred to as a laser crystal in the metaphysical community. The color is a pale brown gray color which is often referred to as Smoky Citrine. The crystal is very clear especially in the middle. There are some veils near the top and bottom. The specimen is in very good condition with a very minor chip to one of faces below the termination (really need a loupe to see it). The Muscovite at the base sets the specimen off nicely. Some of the photos were taken with the specimen standing upright (the vertical photos). It is being held upright with rope caulk on an acrylic base, both of which have been cropped from the photos. The base and caulk will be shipped with the specimen. A note: acrylic based rope caulk intended for insulating around windows is much more sturdy than most mineral tacks and will hold quite a bit of weight. The acrylic based type does not harden and dry out. I use Duck brand which is sold at Walmart for a very reasonable price. It can also be formed into pedestals for thumbnails.
