Mineral Specimen #4066    Tourmaline

Alto Ligonha pegmatites, Alto Ligonha Dist., Zambezia Prov., Mozambique

This specimen is most likely from the days when Mozambique was a Portuguese colony. The specimen is a rich pink color except for the base which is a pale blue with a thin layer of olive green at the very end. The crystal is translucent except for the different colored base which is gemmy. The sides are striated and the termination is made of three flat triangles with beveled edges between them. The specimen is in fairly good condition except the tip, an edge and a corner of the termination are damaged.
