Mineral Specimen #384 Tourmaline, Apatite, Lepidolite on Albite
Pederneira Mine, Sao Jose da Safira, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil
The combination of species and colors on this specimen are quite unique. The blue of the Fluorapatite and the lavender of the Lepidolite accent the specimen nicely. The Tourmalines are quite gemmy and although a bit dark, have subtle color transitions. The Albite is nicely bladed and can be considered to be the variety, Cleavlandite. There is also one crystal of Smoky Quartz which has an unusual blocky habit. The specimen is in very good condition. The Tourmalines are all terminated with no damage. The Albite blades are also in good condition with only one broken blade near the edge of the specimen.
