Mineral Specimen #3773    Ilvaite, Arsenopyrite, Hedenbergite, Muscovite variety Sericite

Huanggang Mine, Inner Mongolia, China

from a find in 2011

Very nice Arsenopyrite crystals are perched on elongated crystals of Hedenbergite with parallel growths of a fibrous habit and silky luster. The Arsenopyrite has a bright metallic silver color with one outstanding fan like cluster with a cog like edge. The color of the Hedenbergite is an attractive deep forest green. Near the base, gray green Chlorite covers the Hedenbergite. At the base of the specimen are black Ilvaite crystals which also have a coating of the Chlorite. The specimen is in good condition with the exception two of the Ilvaite crystals are broken near the termination.
