Mineral Specimen #3438 Quartz with Included Hematite
Orange River, Namakwa District (Namaqualand), Northern Cape Province, South Africa
A crystal of the famous orange Quartz from Orange River, South Africa. The color is due to the micro inclusions of Hematite. Two of the faces of the termination are mottled in color. There is a part of another crystal at the base of the specimen (note: this secondary crystal is not included in the listed measurements).
The specimen is in good condition except there is a very small chip on the termination and damage on one of the corners at the base of the termination. Also, there is a contact from another, now missing, Quartz crystal which bisects one side of the crystal at an angle.
