Mineral Specimen #280 Quartz pseudomorph after Anhydrite with Calcite
Saltinho, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
This specimen looks like three fish tails. The color is a pink with areas of green. It is quite thin and tansluscent. This made it possible to back light the specimen for some of these photographs giving it a glow. The secondary Calcite is well formed hexagonal crystals with some being very clear. These is also an olive green unidentified material coating parts of the specimen. The location is apparently a new one for specimens; there is no current listing on mindat but it can be found on Google maps (I hope to find time to add the location to mindat). One of the blades is imcomplete.
