Mineral Specimen #279 Amethyst cast over Calcite

Artigas, Uruguay

This is a stunning specimen. The Amethyst is a deep purple color (even better than these photos) encircling a core of Calcite. The unusual thing is about half of the Calcite is still within the Amethyst. The Amethyst crystals are in very good condition. Definitely a distinct specimen.
