Mineral Specimen #256    Bicolor Tourmaline (Elbaite)

Himalaya Mine, San Diego County, California, USA

The colors of this bicolor Tourmaline are quite vivid. The pink is the color of a watermelon. The base of the crystal shows a distinct bend. Looking down the C axis, the color is a mix of pink and green depending on the transparency and internal fractions of the green cap. There are some minor chips on the edge of the termination.
