Mineral Specimen #2035    Zirconolite, Fluorapatite, Richterite, Augite, Phlogopite, Perovskite

Jacupiranga Mine, Cajati, Sao Paulo, Brazil

(Ca,Fe,Y,Th)(Nb,Ti,Ta,Zr)O4

The Zirconolite can be found as small black elongated crystals. The dark green, crudely formed crystals and massive material is the Augite. The elongated white crystals is the Fluorapatite. There are small sprays of fibrous, white Richterite crystals. The dark books of mica is the Phlogopite. Although Perovskite is listed, I admit to having trouble identifying it. There is also a dark gray metallic material in the matrix which appears to be some kind of Sulfide.
