Mineral Specimen #1343 Scheelite
Shadow Mountains, San Bernardino County, California, USA
Prior to 1975
Small blebs of Scheelite scattered throughout a reddish garnet matrix. It was hard to find any information on the location. Apparently, there were a number of small tungsten mines and prospects in the Shadow Mountains active in the 1940s when tungsten was in great demand for the war effort. This is a very attractive fluorescent specimen and was part of Don Langham's fluorescent display which he exhibited at mineral shows in southern Michigan in the 1960s and ealry 1970s.
