Mineral Specimen #1306 Manganoan Calcite and Quartz
Huanggang Mine, Inner Mongolia, China
This a unique specimen of a combination of Manganoan Calcite and Quartz. The Calcite is a pretty pastel pink color. The Quartz is a light yellowish brown color. There was a number of similar Manganoan Calcite specimens recently found at the mine, but this is the only one I have seen with Quartz. The color of the Quartz is due to a very thin coating which gives it a look of Citrine. Please note: the color of the Quartz is slightly more vivid in these photos than in real life. Actually, it appears to be mostly clear in the interior. There are small white secondary material on the Calcite. The specimen is in very good condition. There is no damage to the Calcite, but there is a chip on the underside of the termination of the main Quartz crystal (visible in the fourth picture).
