Mineral Specimen #1303 Amethyst
Veracruz, Mexico
The color of this Amethyst is a very intense, rich, dark purple. This is a very attractive specimen. The crystals are clear with the color being richer near the terminations where there are some phantoms. On some of the crystals are growth patterns perpendicular to the C axis. There is also some minor Epidote at the base of the crystals and on the bottom of the specimen. The specimen was mined prior to 1975 and the exact mine is not known (most specimens are labeled Las Vigas which is a town near the mines). The specimen is in very good condition with only very minor chips on some of the terminations and some internal fractures.
