Clear Creek claim, Picacho Peak, New Idria District, Diablo Range, San Benito Co., California, USA
Type Location
for both species
(Hg+2)2Hg2+(CrO4)O2 and Hg2+3(CrO4)S2
Both of these minerals are very rare. On this speimen, the presence of both species is found in very small micro representations. The Edoylerite can be found in one vug in very small yellow crystals (see red and blue arrows). The Wattersite can be found as small, broken crystals (see black arrow). This location is noted for quite a few other rare species. When examing this specimen under a 10x loupe, quite a few interesting areas were found. There are very small sphers of native Mercury scattered around the specimen. There are also veins of white Opal running through the specimen. Some of the black is quite possibly Metacinnabar.
