Mineral Specimen #1223 Native Copper with Quartz and casts after Quartz
Santa Rosa, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
Ex. Ricardo Telles
The Copper of this specimen is composed of many small, crudely formed crystals giving it an overall spongey appearance. The surface is darkly tarnished and in places has a dark red color which is likely Cuprite. There are portions of two white Quartz crystals. The Copper also has casts after other Quartz crystals which no longer remain. There is a pocket of dark material which appears to be some type of copper sulfide.
