Mineral Specimen #1205    Ferrierite

nspecified Ferrierite occurrence, Silver Mountain townsite area, Silver Mountain District, Alpine Co., California, USA

(K2,Na2,Mg,Ca)3-5Mg[Al5-7Si27.5-31O72]·18H2O

This is a rare Zeolite which has been redesignated as 3 different species. Mindat does not list a specific species for the location, so the formula I used was for Ferrierite-K. The only difference is the precentage mix of the first 3 elements. This is a nice miniature specimen from an obscure location. It is in very good condition with no damage but it has been glued onto a stryofoam base which has in turn been glued onto a fold up box.

3.4 x 2.5 x 2 cm
