Mineral Specimen #1175 Tourmaline on Quartz
Pederneira Mine, Sao Jose da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Three Tourmaline crystals, roughly parallel, laying on the side of a Quartz crystal. Two of the Tourmalines are red/pink with flat terminations which have a very narrow layer of greenish color at the very end. Both of these crystals have blue color at the lower end. Both crystals are quite gemmy. Between them, is a dark blue crystal which is not terminated and has some slight pink coloration in places. The Quartz is an off white color and milky with some damage near the smaller of the pink Tourmalines. The Pink Tourmalines are in good condition with the exception of internal fractures.
