Mineral Specimen #1171    Polyhalite and Halite

Varangeville, Nancy, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Lorraine, France

K2Ca2Mg(SO4)4·2H2O

The Polyhalite is the orange material interbedded with gray Halite. It has rounded a bit due to moisture in the year. It was like this when Kirk Valuet bought this at the 2011 Detroit show from Mountain Minerals. I have since placed it in a zip lock bag.

From the Kirk Valuet collection

10.4 x 5.5 x 2.7 cm
