Mineral Specimen #1170    Celestine

Maybee, Monroe County, Micigan

This is a very large Celestine crystal, especially for this location. Also, the deep blue color is better than most specimens from Maybee. There is some unusal brown color along one edge which has some interesting ridges perpendiculr to that edge. Also, minor Sulfur can be found in places on the surface as well as some white dogtooth Calcite crystals. When turned at a certain angle to the light, the specimen exhibits some strong rainbow effects. The specimen is in fairly good condition, although there are a few bruises in places including along the brown edge. And yes, Vivian did write CELESTITE along one edge (this can be remvoed with rubbing alchohol if so desired).
