Mineral Specimen #1156 Uvarovite Garnet
Victorville, San Bernadrdino County, California, USA
The Uvarovite in this specimen is a bright green (much better in person than the photos). The Uvarovite is massive material with no crystal faces. The rest of the matrix is a bit of a mystery. There is very little information listed for the location. The matrix consists of an olive green material (which could be Vesuvianite which is listed in mindat for the location). There is also quite a bit of off white material. There are two different types of metallic material in the specimen. One is steel gray and is similar in appearance to either Molybdenite or Graphite. The other appears to be a sulfide and ranges in color from gold to black. Specimens from the location are quite rare.
