Mineral Specimen #1145 Pyrrohotite, Calcite, Quartz
Nigadoo mine, Robertville, Beresford Parish, Gloucester Co., New Brunswick, Canada
Here is a specimen from a very obscure location. When I found this in the Langham collection, the specimen seemed more likely to be Mexican in origin. On mindat, all 3 minerals were listed for the location, but no pictures had been updated. A google search only yielded one picture on a page of the Mineralogical Association of Canada's website . And there it was, a Calcite crystal of similar habit with small platey crystals of Pyrrhotite on the surface and included in the Calcite. The Pyrrohotite crystals also scattered over the druzy Quartz. One section of the druzy Quartz which seems to have been a point of attachment has a distinct green color. There is also reddish brown balls on the Quartz. Some the Pyrrohotite has a nice golden color. The crystals are well formed and thin. The specimen is in fairly good condition. There is some wear on the Calcite and a couple points of breakage on the druzy Quartz.
