Mineral Specimen #1099    Schorl Tourmaline and Quartz

Santa Cruz, Sonora, Mexico

Ex. California Academy of Sciences

The black Tourmaline from this location is quite unique. It is composed of multitudes of parallel crystals bunched together like the ends of brushes. The Quartz ranges from opaque white to a clear, light colored Smoky Quartz. This is classic Mexican material mined a number of years ago. The specimen is in fairly good condition and although most of the Quartz crystals are broken, all of the Tourmaline at the top of the specimen is in very good condition.
