Mineral Specimen #1079 Copper in Metamorphosed Basalt with Feldspar and Epidote
Bumblebee Mine, Ontonagon County, Michigan, USA
A slab of Copper ore which has been coated in a thick, nonyellowing, layer of urethane from an obscure mine in Ontonagon County. The host rock is basalt which has been highly metamorphosed; the result being the production of reddish Feldspar and green Epidote. The Copper has filled amygdule cavities in the basalt. Only coated on one side.
