Mineral Specimen #1065    Datolite and Prehnite

Copper Falls Mine, Copper Falls, near Eagle Harbor, Keweenaw County, Michigan, USA

An unpolished Datolite nodule. It appears it has been etched free from Calcite. The Datolite is chalky; powdery material scraps off when handled. The Datolite is off white and the Prehnite is a pale grayish green. The mine is one of the first mines operated in the Michigan Copper District.
