Mineral Specimen #1057 Scheelite, Twinned Calcite, Two Generations of Quartz
Yao Gang Xian Mine, Hunan, China
Scheelite crystals ranging in size from microscopic (detectable under SW UV) to 5 mm. The Scheelite is brown in color, has a very high luster, and is transparent in places. It fluoresces a bright blue under SW. There are micro crystals also included in the main Quartz crystal. Also included in the Quartz crystal are small spheres of a secondary growth of Quartz. Similar spheres are also on the surface of the main crystal. There are numerous twinned, white, hexagonal Calcite crystals on one side of the main Quartz crystal. The specimen is in good condition, with some breakage on the edge of one of the Scheelite crystals. There is also minor Arsenopyrite on the base of the specimen.
