Three Rivers, Tulare Co., California, USA

A single crystal of Epdiote colored very dark green almost black. This is from a California location from which specimens are rarely seen. It exhibits strong pleochorism, green from one angle and reddish brown from another. The specimen has been glued onto a piece of styrofoam which has in turn been glued onto the bottom of a fold up box. The glue used was a white glue which can be removed by soaking in water.
