Mineral Specimen #1037    Rutile on Hematite

Cavradi gorge, Curnera Valley, Tujetsch, Vorderrhein Valley, Grischun, Switzerland

Well formed, blocky Rutile crystals on a large bladed crystal of Hematite. The Rutile is a reddish color with good luster and very gemmy. The Hematite is silver gray and very shiney. This is classic Swiss material. The specimen is in excellent condition with no appreciable damage. The specimen has been glued onto a piece of styrofoam which has in turn been glued onto the bottom of a fold up box. The glue used was a white glue which can be removed by soaking in water.
