Mineral Specimen #1017 Iridescent Hematite with Chrysocolla
Bouse, Plomosa District, Plomosa Mts, La Paz Co., Arizona, USA
The Hematite of this specimen is composed of interlocking bladed crystals. Essentially massive, there are also quite a few surfaces covered with crystal faces; many of which are broken but many are also complete. The specimen is quite attractive because the sides of many of the crystals have a high luster which exhibits an iridescence in a wide variety of colors. On one side, there is also a layer of green Chrysocolla present. From a location from which specimens are seldom available.
